Updates from the garden

What a busy last few months it’s been, in the gardens at Brisbane Brugmansia Angel’s Trumpets.

Whilst there is no denying, the majesty, shade and privacy that established trees bring to any garden... too much shade is the enemy of Brugmansia. Here at Brisbane Brugmansia Angel's Trumpets, our aim is for all our Brugmansia to reach their potential and grow at a reasonable rate, so we can stock our online store with these lovely plants and for many cultivars you’ve all been waiting so patiently for, it just wasn’t happening fast enough. So with that in mind, we decided it was time to call in the tree loppers... and lop away they did.

After a huge garden tidy up, including removal of some trees, next we trucked in a few cubic meters of compost rich soil and mulch, to improve our existing garden soils. in Brisbane, supplied our soil. I decided on the Ultima Garden Soil, from Centenary Landscaping Supplies UltraGrow range soils. I have to admit, after digging the soil through into my existing garden soils, my first impression of this soil, was that it appeared quite sandy... fast forward just two weeks from having transplanted more than a dozen Brugmansia cultivars and the results have been impressive to say the least and this was not close to the top of the range soil. Growth is healthier and faster and some have even flowered since.
